It was now up to me to continue to camp the bird to obtain my own kukri now that I had a ToD. It began early Thursday morning and continued till early Monday morning. 11 camped windows and 5 claims total before the damn bird decided to drop its precious prize.
It was annoying and time consuming as I had to squeeze everything else into 9 hour periods in order to make window after window after window on time. The longest camping session lasted a whole 6 hours only to be outclaimed by a fellow group of campers.
The good news is, I never had to camp this alone, not that I could. I had tons of people from my LS join in on the camping throught the weekend. The one to stand out though, was not a member of my shell but a friend of one, Ferque camped 9 out of the 11 windows with us, Drimer and I. He even camped a ToD during a window Drimer and I couldn't attend due to RL. Why? Because he wanted to help in an effort to eventually clean his image on the server. I respect that, and after this weekend, I learned to respect him.
Monday morning, I decided, was gonna be the last window I was gonna camp before taking a break from the whole deal. I was tired of throwing away hours on an item that didn't want to drop even with Treasure Hunter 4(thanks Carste). It was only Ferque, Drimer and I that fateful morning. No TH, just a PLD/NIN, a White Mage and a Summoner. Ferque got claim once again(claimed 3/5 total claims in the weekend) and we began our marathon defeat of Kreutzet. Ferque held his ground really well while lashing out some decent 750 dmg Atonement WS while Drimer and I stood alert on his HP. I also had Buncles constantly on the Bird to dish out some extra damage, 100-200 dmg Poison Nails, and some emergency Healing Ruby II.
If the dagger was meant to drop, it would drop no matter if we had TH4 or no TH. That was my challenge to fate. We defeated Kreutzet and, before I could see the loot pool, Ferque's screamed "YES!" and I knew we had finally obtained it. Two seconds later, there is was on my screen, the Sirocco Kukri. Ferque had already passed it by the time I went to lot it, and within seconds, I had my very own kukri.
It was a huge relief to be done with that. Now I can continue xping. Level 69, here I come! For those who are wondering what is the big deal with this dagger. It is, unquestionably, the second best dagger you can sub. It has the lowest possible delay for a dagger, has enough damage to gain TP even against high level enemies and, on top of that, the additional wind damage effect procs 100% of the time, as long as you hit. It is a key piece for any Thief looking to have the lowest possible weapon delay for faster TP gain.
Thanks to everyone that came out to help! You have made this little Tarutaru crazy Thief very very happy.
