Moonlit Shadows

We roam separate,
But our souls are forever bound.

The power we conceived, the destruction we ensued;
It was but our own interpretation of friendship.

Siblings we became, under the heavy tumult of war.
Under the moon, we began our endless howling.
Calling warriors from all reaches to our withering nest.

Unraveled our ploy, worlds collided.
Yet, victorious our brotherhood strongly stood,
Never wavered, never tainted, never broken,
By the beast laying within.

What is this power that so quickly vanishes?
Why is it that, the more we grow, the more we come apart?
Where now is my sister; her howling has become faint?

We look to the horizon, longing for an answer;
Yet the rivers we tread never meet;

Will there ever be a time of our return;
Or shall we forever remain unchanged?

Sister wolf, bear this in heart:

No matter if we meet, or forever remain rivals,
Our souls will never be apart.

No matter if we fight, or forever remain silent,
Our rivers will never stray away.

No matter if we love, or forever remain hated,
Our lives will forever be touched;

By that soul that once howled beside us.

Monster Blood Is Apparently Blue...

As I mentioned earlier, Blue Mage has become my new calling. So what have I been doing with my time? Having monsters beat me up until they use the ability I want to learn. Then, I beat them up and drink their blood! At least thats what I thought I had to do at first. The dudes in Aht Urghan had mentioned something about monster blood and I may have taken it a little bit too literal. What ends up happening is, at a random point when a monster uses an ability, the Ahriman lens now embedded in my eye makes everything look funky and suddenly a weird understanding of the monster's inner workings plops into my head. It is as gross as it sounds. But, as a result, suddenly my body becomes capable of repeating the ability with consistency. :D Side note: Monster blood causes indigestion. T_T

On the first night of my friend's up and coming Vana'diel adventure, with the outside help of Drimer's Summoner, we reached level 9! It was fun beating away at mobs without a care in the world. I also made sure to show him the awesomeness that is the Fields of Valor book. "Feel the book. Love the book. HUMP the book!" XD He quickly learned the ropes of early adventuring and finally began enjoying himself. Learning the Combo Weapon Skill may have had something to do with it. He got a rather mean glint on his eye the first time he chopped off half a mob's health in one Combo.

The second night of our training got cut short. He had to leave to take care of something. Didn't quite get what it was. Galkas tend to grumble a bit when they talk. So, I decided to continue the saddistic endeavor of learning more spells. First, I spent some time with the crabs near the Knightwell in West Ronfaure. They had this obsession of giving me bubble showers. I mean, I bathe on a frequent basis so I don't know what that was about. Eventually, Metallic Body was mine. I was celebrating until I noticed how long it takes cast that ability. O_O Not something that will save me if I am in the middle of battle, getting wailed on by mobs.

The next mob on my list(more like the next closest mob) was sheep. We had fought many of these the previous night with no luck of me learning Sheep Song. I discovered later that it was probably due to my Blue Magic Skill being too low. lolme Last night it was a little bit different since my skill had grown to cap. After two or three sheep, I learned Sheep Song. That puts me at 1/2 of the spells I'll need at lvl 16 to gain the Auto-Regen trait. Next were the saplings. Nicely enough, it only took two Sprout Smacks for the Ahriman lens to do its thing. Sappling anatomy is something I could have lived without. @_@

After that, I had to do some traveling. I *cough*bloodported*cough* back to Sandy, not on purpose! Then, one Elvaan warp to Whitegate and one Taru warp to Jeuno, I met with my buddy Texstaz. He was crafting me a Brass Xiphos, which I'll be able to use in a couple of levels. Once done and traded, he teleported me to Konschtat Highlands, where my next targets lay in waiting, Quadavs. Well, they weren't really waiting, but you catch my dramatic tone. The first challenge was finding the damn turtles. It took me long enough to finish a Fields of Valor page, reaching level 10 in the process, which made me realize I didn't have my Scale Mail on me. Gimpy gimpy me. But that is another story. I finally found plenty of Quadavs near the entrance to Palborough Mines and began my... anatomical study? Sounds better than just saying "getting smacked by a monster over and over, keeping myself alive by spamming Pollen".

About five Quadav and thirty minutes later, I learned Head Butt, which will prove valuable for a long time. Being done with this zone, I hollered to Texstaz hoping to get a teleport to Tahrongi Canyon, where dhalmels hang out. He did and even stayed to help me out since the dhalmels were one to three levels above me. Five or Six dhalmels later, I still had not been able to learn Healing Breeze and Tex needed to leave so we called it quits. Bummer! I figured I could go after the crawlers in the area to learn Cocoon but they too were a little bit above my level. Bummer bummer! "Alright," I thought "I'll just have to go to Sarutabaruta and play with the lower level crawlers there." So, I hopped on the Buburimu outpost back to Sandy and warped to the Sarutabaruta outpost. As mentioned above, the crawlers there were mostly "Easy Prey" which meant that, although they could damage me, they missed a lot, slowing down their TP gain.

I spent a good hour over there, getting whiffed by crawlers. About three crawlers actually did Cocoon but my Ahriman lens' perverted ability didn't kick in. I considered trying the blood drinking thing again but immediately shunned the thought. "INDIGESTION!" I told myself. The upside to this last bit of the night was I spent most of the time talking to my old good friend, Carste. He professed his undying love for me, even though he is apparently married to Onedarkflame, another member of TheBrotherhood. o_O I was flattered, but reminded him that I like girls and he is already in a relationship. He said they had an open marriage. XD I could only laugh.

Carste got tired and went to sleep. Shortly after, even though I hand't learned Cocoon, I decided to call it a night also. But don't fret, there will be more crawler bashing to come! Being back in Vana'diel is turning out to be just what I needed to relax and have fun. And being able to reconnect with my old buddies has been priceless. I cannot wait till we can start doing stuff together again.

The Second Wind

After an almost two year retirement, Drimergirl and I have decided to return to Vana'diel. The love for our characters, friends, and the world were too much for us to resist.

What has changed?
Well, we made the descision under the condition that we will not let it become the time sink it ended up becoming before we retired. The other big change is that we are working to forge our own linkshell, instead of returning to The Brotherhood, where we spent most of our previous adventuring careers. That aside, we are looking forward to hanging out and adventuring with our brothers and sisters on that great linkshell.

What were our first steps back on Tarutaru and Mirthra feet?
Drimer went straight for the job specific emotes. Discovering that Dancers gained access to pom poms may have been the culminating straw in her decision to return to the game so she couldn't wait to get those. My stubby Taru feet made way to Aht Urghan to become a Blue Mage. My best friend since forever will be joining our ranks and I figured Blue Mage would be a great job to level by his side. Always had an interest in being a Blue Mage, but never felt the will to go through the process of learning all the spells. This time around, I am super excited about it! Heck, I already learned Pollen, Foot Kick and Sandspin! I killed so many bees, hares and worms, I made it to level 5.

What we look for on the horizon?
Once we gain access to Abyssea, Drimer and I are probably going to focus on Dancer and Summoner, respectively, getting them to 90 and working on updating their gear appropriately. At the same time, I will be putting some serious work on leveling Blue Mage, which I expect to be my next high level job.

If the writing is a little crude, please refrain from blaming Bubbles, my editor. This post is written by me without the aid of his editing and uber grammatic fixing powers. I am still unfreezing the poor fellow and removing all the spiderwebs that had accumulated on him. The rest of the moghouse will have to wait till Spring.
